"Conservatives and Libertarians: Uneasy Cousins"
That's the title of this piece from the late Robert Nisbet posted over at The Imaginative Conservative discussing the similarities and profound differences between conservatism and libertarians. As Nisbet notes, the differences between the two approaches to politics diverge not only in the origins but in their ultimate trajectories. Libertarianism yearns for a world of maximum individual freedom, freedom without restraint, while conservatism seeks a world of security and order.
