A new pope for the Coptic Orthodox Church
The leader of the Coptic Church in Egypt is traditionally titled as a pope (the word "pope" simply comes from the Latin familiar word for "dad," namely "papa"). As this story from the BBC reports, the Coptic Church has recently chosen a new pope to lead it, Bishop Tawadros. The Coptic Church has come under increasing pressure from the Egyptian government in recent months, so here's hoping and praying that the Holy Spirit will give the new pope the strength and wisdom to lead the Coptic Christians of Egypt well.
