Homeschoolers as potential employees
That's the topic of this very interesting post over at Adrienne's Corner. As Adrienne points out, in the real world of small business, the characteristics of many homeschoolers is precisely what business people look for in employees. I would also add that the kind of self-motivated and self-started learning style that successful homeschooling develops in young people helps a lot when it comes to starting and running any kind of venture -- be it in business, a profession, or higher education. Homeschooling -- something to be encouraged!

I forgot to add that they also check Facebook and My Space. I've told kids over and over that potential employers do that but they won't believe me.
There's a gal that goes to Post Falls high school that works at the new Burger King here. Her posts on Facebook are so beyond vile that it makes me question whether I even want to go to the place. (not that BK is hugely high on my list - just saying.)
I didn't have permission to disclose the owner (who was a personal friend of Reagan) but their burgers are super-sonic.
Yup, people have to watch their Facebook and MySpace pages. Any social sites are fair game for employers to look at. I am constantly amazed at the stuff I see people posting on Facebook. Not prudent at all.
