Should law school be optional for lawyers?

Here's an idea:  let people take the bar exam without having to go to law school.  I like it!

While you're at it, let people take the Licensing Exam for Teachers (or whatever it's called where you live) without having to pay for useless Education courses!

Yes, that's a great idea. Let the exams be the certification, rather than expensive and largely unnecessary professional degrees. I'm all for education & training for one's chosen profession, but that doesn't necessarily mean school. It can, and I am a proponent of good legal education, for example. But school isn't necessary. Where did Abraham Lincoln go to law school? Where did St. Peter go to seminary?
